Toaster Oven Recipes
When most of us want to bake something, we automatically think to use our oven. But for those who are cooking only for themselves, or just making something small, a toaster oven can also be used. In fact, there are now toaster oven recipes for many common foods, from baked goods to hot sandwiches to casseroles.
We probably think of things like cookies, muffins, and small pies when we think about baking in a toaster oven. These type of things are the easiest to adapt, as they are relatively thin and do not require the high heat of a traditional oven. Still, it is possible to make other foods as well, though some precooking is required. With a traditional oven, you can generally put raw foods together in a casserole and bake it. Many recipes call for partially cooking foods first, then mixing and baking them in the toaster oven to combine the flavors. For example, when using potatoes in a dish, it is a good idea to boil the potatoes about ten minutes, then add them to the dish. Other dishes will bake normally, although the should be watched and checked to be sure they are done.
Toaster ovens are also ideal for toasting sandwiches or reheating foods like pizza. They do not use as much electricity or take as long to heat as a conventional oven. And will give good a crispiness that microwave ovens do not. Cooking with toaster ovens has many advantages, making them a good addition to any kitchen.
